Why This Caribbean Beach Club’s Irresistible Cuisine Changed My Mind About Beach Dining

Beach clubs often miss the mark for me. They can be overpriced and lack quality. Many places seem to think they can get away with average food just because tourists come and go. But during my visit to St. Maarten, I found an exception: Babacool Beach Club.

This beach club opened in August last year and made a strong impression. Instead of skimping on food, they hired Chef Jérôme Ferrer, a Michelin-starred chef from Montreal. He’s the only chef on the Dutch side of the island with this honor, showing how serious they are about great food.

The decor at Babacool is fresh and inviting. With its pink-and-white theme against the backdrop of the deep blue sea, you can really relax. I enjoyed a stunning view of Saba Island while savoring my meal. But what truly wowed me was the quality of the dishes. I opted for a tuna combo with fresh sashimi and crunchy seared pieces topped with cilantro and lime. The mix of hot and cold flavors was delightful, especially paired with chilled French rosé.

More Delicious Options at Babacool

My experience wasn’t unique; everyone in my group loved their meals. The menu offers a variety of great choices. One standout is the chef’s surf ‘n turf, featuring grilled Angus beef and roasted lobster tail in a light lemon cream sauce. For a lighter option, the crunchiness of the bluefin tuna tataki with wasabi crust is a hit. They even have a unique vegetarian watermelon sashimi, perfect for those looking for something refreshing.

Drink options were equally impressive. Many beach clubs have subpar wine, but Babacool offers a great selection, including various Caribbean rums and rosé. It’s a breath of fresh air for beachgoers who appreciate good drinks.

Recently, a survey by the Restaurant Association revealed that high-quality food is becoming a priority for travelers. Over 70% expressed they want memorable dining experiences while on vacation. Babacool seems to hit this mark perfectly, making it worth a visit.
