Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, recently participated in the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Swadeshi Apnao) program. He highlighted that terrorism remains a significant challenge for India, even as Naxalism has diminished. Sinha emphasized the need to bolster domestic manufacturing as a way to strengthen the economy.
He noted, “Everyone has seen the developments in the Middle East,” implying that geopolitical events can impact local economies. Over the past decade, India has undergone substantial changes. Sinha believes that by focusing on manufacturing, the country can create jobs and build a resilient economy.
Sinha also addressed security in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed confidence that through unity, the region could eliminate terrorism. “If the people of Jammu and Kashmir stand together,” he said, “I have complete faith that we can succeed.” He argues that eliminating terrorism would significantly accelerate the region’s progress.
According to a recent report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s economy is projected to grow by 6.1% in 2023. This growth underscores the importance of strong manufacturing capabilities. Countries with robust manufacturing sectors often fare better in crises, as they can produce essential goods without relying heavily on imports.
The move towards strengthening local businesses aligns with a growing trend. Many people are now more interested in supporting local products over imported ones. This shift reflects a broader desire for self-reliance and community empowerment.
