Shahkar, a resident of Lucknow, described the panic his family felt when they lost contact with around 15 of their relatives in Iran. “They alerted us about explosions near their building and were heading to the bunkers. Since then, we haven’t heard from them,” he shared. The lack of communication is a nightmare for many families during this crisis.
Flight cancellations have worsened the situation. Hundreds of flights to the Gulf countries have been halted, leaving passengers stranded. Shahkar said that each day, about 2,000 people from Uttar Pradesh travel to the Gulf, and the sudden cancellations have thrown their plans into chaos.
Statistics reveal that India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation canceled 444 flights due to airspace restrictions on the same weekend the conflict escalated. These cancellations have deeply affected students, with a group of 84 MBA students from Indira Gandhi University stuck in Dubai. Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah mentioned that steps are in progress for the safe return of individuals from his state stuck in Dubai.
