David M. Speicher, 89, of Marysville, passed away on February 28, 2026. He was born in Goshen, Indiana, on August 12, 1936, to Charles M. and Eva M. (Smith) Speicher.
While studying at Bluffton College, David met his future wife, Carol Ann Kent. They married on August 24, 1958, at the North Lewisburg Methodist Church. After earning their degrees, they began their careers in education and started a family. David later obtained a master’s degree from Michigan State University and additional training at The Ohio State University. He served as principal of Fairbanks High School and Junior High School in Milford Center, Ohio, before returning to Bluffton University as an alumni director.
After retiring, David dedicated nearly 14 years to the Marysville Public Library board, including a term as president. He believed that education goes beyond degrees; it’s about gaining knowledge and wisdom. His interests were wide-ranging—he loved American history, literature, and even astronomy.
A devout Christian, David was a long-time member of Cornerstone Global Methodist Church. He enjoyed online services during his last years. Known for his quiet demeanor, he had a sharp wit and loved spending vacations with family, especially in the Smoky Mountains and historic Williamsburg.
David’s legacy is his love for God, family, and community. He leaves behind his children: Robert (Janice), Susan (Joseph), David (Tami), and Steven (Susan); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members, friends, and students he inspired.
He is now reunited in heaven with his wife of 62 years, Carol, and family members including sisters and a grandson.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Cornerstone Global Methodist Church, followed by burial at Oakdale Cemetery. In honor of David, memorial donations can be made to the Cornerstone SERVE Campaign or The David and Carol Ann Speicher Scholarship Fund at Bluffton University.
