Holtje Earns Back-to-Back American Honorable Mentions: A Florida Atlantic University Athletics Achievement!

Lily Holtje, a sophomore on the Florida Atlantic softball team, has earned Honorable Mention recognition from the American Conference for the second week in a row. This is her third weekly honor this season, which includes two Honorable Mentions and a Player of the Week award.

Last week, Holtje excelled, leading the team with a .467 batting average, seven hits, and three doubles. She also contributed to the team’s solid performance with a home run, helping the Owls finish the week with a 4-1 record, including a clean sweep at the Beach Chicken Brawl.

In a midweek game against UCF, she hit her third home run of the season and added a double. Over the weekend, she continued her strong play, notching two hits and two RBIs in an 11-1 win over Binghamton. She also had a hit and a run against Coastal Carolina, and contributed another double with two RBIs in a second victory over Binghamton. Holtje has now reached base safely in 14 consecutive games.

Statistically, she ranks second in the American Conference for OPS (1.334) and doubles (nine), and is third in walks (16).

Next up, the Owls will host FGCU on March 4 at 6 p.m. at Joan Joyce Field, which will be broadcast on ESPN+. Following this, they will start their conference play on the road against Charlotte from March 6 to 8.
