Instead of giving up, she and Oprah hit several stores to gather ingredients for Oprah’s chef to make the burger at home. King declared, “Food gives me a lot of joy,” and who could disagree? A well-made cheeseburger, especially with cheddar and pepper jack, is a treat!
Another fascinating moment came when King discussed her trip to space in April 2025. She was part of an all-female crew and shared how eating works for astronauts. “We didn’t have any food in space, but before we left, I skipped breakfast. I wanted to stay comfortable,” she said. Upon returning, they had a feast waiting for them.
King also touched on her decision to stop drinking alcohol decades ago. After a wild experience at a high school event, she realized, “I never want to feel that way again.” Her friends often joke about her choice, but she’s steadfast in her decision.
When it comes to girls’ nights at Oprah’s, they indulge in lemon pasta—a dish that has become a staple for both friends. King raves about this flavor-packed creation and insists it should be on every late-night menu.
King’s love for food extends to room service, too. Her ideal order includes scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, and a touch of hot chocolate. Once, when the server asked how many people were dining, she felt the need to play it cool and said, “Two!” You can imagine her relief when she learned the food was for just her!
Finally, there’s movie time. For her, it’s not complete without popcorn drizzled in butter and some Raisinets to mix in. “It’s a party in your mouth!” she quips, capturing the joy of a classic movie snack.
