Exciting Softball Matchup in Florence
The University of North Alabama’s softball team is gearing up for an exciting game this week. On Wednesday, March 4, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will visit Hilda B. Anderson Softball Stadium for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Best of all, admission is free!
This game fills a gap in UNA’s schedule, as they weren’t set to play until Saturday, March 7. Oakland had a game canceled, making this matchup possible.
You can catch the action live on YouTube via Roar Lions Productions. Grant Wakefield will be calling the game, but there won’t be live stats available.
Last year, UNA had a fantastic series against Oakland, winning all four games. They recorded impressive victories, including a 9-1 mercy rule win and an unforgettable 11-inning thriller that wrapped up with a walk-off triple by Hailey Jones. That fourth win marked a milestone for head coach Ashley Cozart, celebrating her 400th career victory at UNA.
This week’s game is an exciting opportunity for fans to show support, and it keeps the team engaged ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Detroit Mercy at noon.
