Jefferson, Ohio — Colucci’s Pizza may not have its storefront open yet, but the buzz is strong thanks to a new food truck. Owner Ryan Stevens launched this mobile venture shortly after a fire damaged their brick-and-mortar location last September.
“We had to stop taking orders by 5 o’clock on our first day because we were swamped,” Stevens shared. The popularity wasn’t surprising, given the community’s love for the pizza.
The fire started from shop rags that ignited overnight. Instead of waiting for repairs to finish, Stevens and his son innovated to keep serving their loyal customers with the food truck.
David Pantoja, a local fan, visited the food truck twice in just two days. “I’d eat it every day if I could,” he said. Anthony Jones even drove from Ashtabula to pick up orders after hearing about the reopening. “We couldn’t wait for them to open back up,” he recalled.
Community support has been overwhelming. Matt Taylor said, “Colucci’s is a staple here. It’s the best pizza around.” For Stevens, this response is a reminder that resilience matters. “When tragedy strikes, you have to keep going,” he noted.
He hopes to reopen the restaurant by July. The enthusiasm around the food truck shows how vital local businesses are to community spirit, especially during tough times.
