Talk of the remake began in 2023. At that time, it was estimated to be years away. But things changed when actor Matt Ryan teased fans about its release, leading to a legal threat from Ubisoft. This sparked renewed interest. In December, *Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced* popped up on the PEGI website, and early this year, a collectible figurine featuring Edward Kenway was leaked. Ubisoft even shared Black Flag sea shanties on their official YouTube channel.
Now, with a recent blog post, Ubisoft has officially acknowledged the remake. Jean Guesdon, head of the franchise, hinted that while speculation is common, there’s real momentum behind this project. He encouraged fans to stay tuned for more updates.
Beyond the remake, Ubisoft has shared updates on other projects. The most recent game, *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, is nearing the end of its support phase, meaning updates will become less frequent. There’s also *Assassin’s Creed Hexe*, set in 16th-century Europe, which Guesdon said is being developed carefully to ensure quality.
Additionally, there’s Codename Invictus, a new multiplayer experience led by veterans from *For Honor*. Guesdon reassured fans that their feedback will shape the game, which is a different approach for the franchise. There’s also talk of a project with Tencent and the possibility of reviving cooperative gameplay.
Fans might also be excited about the upcoming live-action *Assassin’s Creed* series on Netflix. A patch for *Assassin’s Creed Unity*, enhancing its performance on next-gen consoles, is also on the way.
