The Plot
Set in the 1990s, this action-comedy takes place in the beautiful yet dangerous Wayanad forests. The story follows a young movie star who heads to a hunting club owned by experienced hunters to sharpen his acting skills. Things get complicated when his cousin shows up with his new girlfriend.
The cousin has accidentally killed a gangster’s son, which leads to chaos. The club quickly turns into a battleground as the gangster’s men come looking for him. Viewers are left wondering who will make it out alive.
The Good
“Rifle Club” surprises with its fresh take on Indian cinema. It dives deep into the culture of hunting, showcasing the respect hunters have for their craft. Unlike typical Western films, it highlights India’s unique setting and themes, making it feel genuine.
Aashiq Abu’s direction shines through, complemented by stunning visuals and a captivating musical score by Rex Vijayan. The editing by V. Saajan keeps the pace lively and engaging.

The Performance
Every actor contributes to the movie’s charm, making it hard to single anyone out. Dileesh Pothan shines as the club’s secretary, while Vijayaraghavan delivers a powerful performance as the wise patriarch. Anurag Kashyap’s diverse role stands out, and Vani Viswanath proves she still has it in action.
Vineeth Kumar’s portrayal of the movie star adds layers to the climax, leaving a lasting impression.
The Verdict
