The ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran is causing major disruptions in global aviation, particularly affecting flights involving India. With airspace closures across West Asia, airlines are faced with cancellations, rerouted flights, and soaring ticket prices.

As airlines adapt, fares have reportedly jumped. Deepak Choudhary, president of the Worldwide Travel and Tourism Association (WTTA), noted a sharp decline in demand for flights to the Middle East. Passengers are now facing soaring prices, with tickets from the UAE to India reaching up to ₹1.8 lakh. Many travelers are hesitant to embark on journeys over conflict-prone areas.
The crisis has also created an imbalance in passenger traffic. Flights to the Middle East are experiencing weaker demand, while return flights are fully booked. Despite the risks, airline crews continue to operate flights to assist stranded passengers.
Experts warn that if the conflict drags on, ticket prices may rise further due to higher fuel and insurance costs. The situation could worsen if tensions extend to the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping route affecting global oil prices.
Interestingly, domestic air travel in India remains stable, as a small percentage of inbound tourist traffic connects to domestic destinations. If the situation calms, airlines may quickly resume normal operations, but prolonged tensions could lead to extended disruptions in global air travel.
