The UNMC Office of Global Engagement is excited to kick off its sixth International Photo Contest today, running through March 29. This annual event showcases the unique perspectives of students and faculty through the lens of their travel experiences.
Jane Meza, PhD, the interim vice chancellor for academic affairs, expressed enthusiasm for the event, saying, “It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the world through the eyes of our students and faculty.”
Participants can submit up to three travel photos via the Office of Global Engagement’s website, where they can also find the official rules and submission form. This year, the photos are categorized into three themes: Cityscapes/Architecture, Landscapes/Nature, and People/Animals.
Judging criteria will focus on originality, creativity, and the ability to convey culture and themes. All entries will be assessed anonymously. Prizes include a grand winner and one winning photo in each category for both students and faculty. Remember, previously submitted photos from past contests are not allowed.
As the event unfolds, many participants highlight how photography helps them connect with diverse cultures. According to a recent survey by the Photography Society, 75% of travelers believe photography enhances their travel experiences and storytelling.
In a world where social media trends can quickly shift, photography remains a powerful medium, allowing unique personal narratives to shine through. It’s not just about capturing beautiful images; it’s about sharing stories that broaden our understanding of the world.
