It’s estimated that production costs could be between $8 million to $10 million per episode.

MacFarlane explained, “What I kept hearing was that the show is really expensive to produce. They said there’s no way to do it at a lower cost. So, I wrote the ending scene where Max walks into a gym, hinting at Mark Wahlberg’s character from the first film.” He acknowledged the creative hurdles faced in making a third season a reality, saying, “It might take some narrative acrobatics.” For now, there’s no confirmation from Peacock about the show’s future or its cancellation.

While discussing the show’s production, MacFarlane praised the team responsible for bringing Ted to life. He noted, “The workload is insurmountable. It feels like you’re creating an Avengers movie every 22 minutes, given all the CGI involved.” The experience gained from the earlier films greatly contributed to the show’s production quality.

In a recent twist, MacFarlane mentioned the use of AI in Episode 5, where he appeared as former President Bill Clinton. The production team struggled to capture Clinton’s likeness with traditional CGI and settled on AI instead. MacFarlane described this approach as an “interesting study” in evolving production techniques. He said, “Had we gone the traditional CGI route, it was just terrifying to look at.” The goal was to ensure the humor took center stage, not the effects.

Despite uncertainty about the prequel’s future, MacFarlane is excited about a new animated series in the works. This series will continue the story after “Ted 2.” The voice cast will include MacFarlane, Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth. MacFarlane praised the contributions of showrunners Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan, highlighting their success in bringing a fresh feel to the Ted universe.
