Trinity Health System: Paving the Way for a Promising Future

STEUBENVILLE — Trinity Health System has had an impressive run lately. In just the past three months, they’ve been exploring a potential partnership with UPMC, a major healthcare network.

Interim market president Dwayne Richardson shared that they’re currently deep in the due diligence phase. This means they’re carefully reviewing Trinity’s financial health, operations, and care quality. “We want to make sure we understand everything about the business,” he said. A solid agreement could pave the way for detailed planning ahead.

In October, Trinity and UPMC signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore this integration, which would allow Trinity to join a network that includes multiple facilities in the area, like its Twin City Medical Center and the Tony Teramana Cancer Center.

Richardson expressed confidence in the process, emphasizing that its thoroughness will lead to a smoother transition. Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many people excited about this potential partnership. “Aligning with a local partner like UPMC offers huge benefits,” he added, highlighting the shared goals and resources between the two organizations.

Aside from the integration talks, there’s plenty to celebrate at Trinity. They recently opened the St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital, a 20,000-square-foot facility equipped with 10 emergency treatment rooms, including trauma services and a six-bed inpatient unit.

In terms of patient care, Trinity is achieving record satisfaction scores. They’ve made significant improvements in both in-patient and emergency room experiences. This includes the addition of 88 private beds in the new patient tower, designed to make stays more comfortable.

“Our goal is to treat every patient with dignity and respect while ensuring excellent outcomes,” Richardson stated. They’ve managed to hire 126 registered nurses this year, retaining about 85% of them, far above the national turnover average of 18%. This success is attributed to their attractive benefits and positive working conditions.

In a recent survey, 90% of patients reported feeling satisfied with their care at Trinity, showcasing their ongoing commitment to quality service. Richardson noted that they’ve also created an inviting atmosphere with plenty of natural light in their facilities to enhance healing.

As of now, Trinity Health System continues to expand its services. With recent successes, including new physician hires and accolades from U.S. News & World Report for maternity care, the future looks bright. The community’s support and excitement reflect a strong foundation as they move forward.
