Join the Food Drive! Knights of Columbus Launches Community Initiative for PJB in Hopkinton – March 9 Updates

Good morning, Hopkinton! Here’s your daily update—a quick look at what’s happening in town.

Project Just Because pantry

The Hopkinton Food Pantry at Project Just Because supports families in need.

The Knights of Columbus are kicking off their annual Food For Families Food Drive. This event started Saturday and runs until March 22. The goal? To gather funds and food for the Hopkinton Food Pantry at Project Just Because.

Knights member Jim Kenealy highlights that this year, they’re expanding their efforts online, thanks to a successful response during the pandemic. Last year, the drive brought in $1,750 in donations and over a ton of food from local churches.

The pantry, located on South Street, serves about 950 families weekly, and the demand is growing. Rising costs make it tougher for families to get by. Grocery prices have increased by 19.1% since January 2022, according to CBS News.

Kenealy believes that monetary donations can be more beneficial than just food. “Cash allows the pantry to purchase what they truly need,” he explains.

In financial news, Blackstone Valley Wealth Management’s James Valis and Gregg Manis have been recognized by LPL Financial’s Ascent Club Program for 2025. It’s a notable achievement that speaks to their expertise in the field.

On a lighter note, if you’re interested in library events, there’s mini-golf and a stuffed animal sleepover coming up, along with a CreatorSpace workshop.

Don’t forget, town meetings tonight include the Planning Board at 7 PM, the Commission on Disability at 7 PM, and the Trustees of the School Fund at 7:30 PM.

Lastly, Wood Street had to close midday Sunday as a tree fell across the road—so be cautious while traveling.

Let’s continue to support our community and stay informed about local events!
