A woman in Florida has been charged after allegedly firing shots at Rihanna’s home in Los Angeles. Ivanna Ortiz, 35, faces serious charges, including attempted murder and assault with a firearm, following an incident early Sunday afternoon.
Ortiz is being held on $1.8 million bail and must stay away from Rihanna and her partner, ASAP Rocky. She appeared in court without entering a plea.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman emphasized that public safety is a priority. He stated, “When someone decides to shoot up our community, they will be held accountable.” Fortunately, no one was injured, but shots hit Rihanna’s home, an Airstream trailer on her property, and a neighboring residence.
At the time of the shooting, Rihanna, Rocky, and their three children were present in the Airstream. Hochman noted that the couple could have been in danger during the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Ortiz driving a white Tesla near the home before the shooting. Police tracked her down using license plate readers, arresting her without incident. In her vehicle, officers found an AR-15-style rifle and a wig, along with additional ammunition.
Ortiz, who works as a licensed speech therapist, has multiple past arrests and had previously targeted Rihanna in social media posts. In one, she falsely claimed that the singer had AIDS. While the motive behind her actions is unclear, LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is investigating.
After facing previous legal troubles related to a separate incident, Rocky had recently been acquitted of assault charges. His legal saga highlights the challenges faced by public figures, especially when their personal lives intersect with the law.
