Get Ready for Speed: March Launch of 2 Amrit Bharat Trains Enhances Connectivity Across South India!

Indian Railways is set to enhance travel with the launch of the Amrit Bharat Express trains this March. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced this initiative, aiming to make long-distance travel more affordable and comfortable for everyday passengers.

The Amrit Bharat Express isn’t just your average train. It’s designed for general and sleeper-class commuters, providing features similar to the faster Vande Bharat trains at lower prices. This new service promises to connect various regions more efficiently, especially between South India and other parts of the country.

Here’s a quick look at the new train schedules:

  • Nagercoil – Charlapalli Train: Starts March 12, departs Nagercoil at 23:45 every Thursday, and reaches Charlapalli by 04:20 on Saturday. The return journey leaves Charlapalli at 08:15 on Saturday and arrives in Nagercoil by 15:35 on Sunday.
  • Podanur – Dhanbad Train: Begins March 21, with departures from Podanur at 06:15 every Saturday, reaching Dhanbad by 04:00 Monday. The return trip starts at 14:00 Monday and arrives back at Podanur by 11:20 Wednesday.
  • Pollachi – Palakkad MEMU: Starts March 12 and will run five days a week.
  • Mangaluru – Rameswaram Express: Weekly service begins March 14, departing Mangaluru at 19:30.
  • Mayiladuturai – Karaikudi Train: Daily operations start March 16.
  • Tirunelveli – Mangaluru Express: Weekly service begins March 18, leaving Tirunelveli at 15:45.

These services aim to improve trade and pilgrimage access within the region, linking important cities like Coimbatore and Dhanbad, and ensuring a faster, safer travel experience for everyone—students, traders, and pilgrims alike.

What makes the Amrit Bharat Express stand out? Here are some key features:

  • Semi-permanent couplers for a smoother ride.
  • Every seat has mobile charging points, LED lighting, and CCTV security.
  • Trains can hit speeds of up to 130 km/h, significantly cutting travel times.
  • Prices are fixed, ensuring no unexpected hikes during busy seasons.

Recent data shows that train travel in India remains a popular choice, with around 8 billion passengers using the service in recent years. Transport experts highlight the importance of affordable travel options in promoting economic growth and regional connectivity.

With these new trains, Indian Railways is not just offering journeys; it’s transforming how people move across the country. The government’s focus on enhancing rail infrastructure aligns with a growing trend toward prioritizing sustainable transport options that better serve the public.
