New Delhi is embracing the future with an exciting announcement: the government has green-lit 104 projects, investing ₹271 crore to advance 6G technology. Minister of State for Telecom, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, shared this in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting a new vision for India’s telecom landscape.
In March 2023, India released the Bharat 6G Vision Document, aiming to position the country as a global leader in 6G by 2030. This initiative focuses on nurturing local innovation and encouraging participation from Indian startups.
As part of this plan, 100 5G Use Case Labs have been created in universities across India. These labs provide a space for students and researchers to experiment with and develop new applications for upcoming 6G networks.
The government is also set to support the creation of 6G test beds. This initiative focuses on advanced communication technologies, including Terahertz (THz) communication.
