Shantanu Narayen Shares Inspiring Message to Adobe Team: Transitioning from CEO Role After Naming Successor

I want to share my news: I’m stepping down as CEO of Adobe after 18 amazing years. My upcoming earnings call will also be my 100th at this incredible company. In the next few months, I’ll work with our Lead Director, Frank Calderoni, and the Board to find my successor. I will continue as Chair of the Board to support the new CEO, just as my predecessors did for me.

This isn’t a farewell but a moment of reflection. I joined Adobe 28 years ago because I was drawn to our innovation, leadership in new markets, and the talented people I met during my interview. Over the years, we’ve grown from about 3,000 to over 30,000 employees. Our revenue soared from less than $1 billion to more than $25 billion. We’ve touched billions of people through our products and the digital experiences our customers create. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.

Our mission, “Empower Everyone to Create,” opens up exciting opportunities in this new age of AI. We’re ready to steer Adobe into the next chapter by aligning our innovative roadmap with our audience strategy.

Today, creativity is evolving rapidly, driven by AI and new workflows. At Adobe, we’ve always anticipated the future rather than react to it. What gives me confidence isn’t just our technology; it’s our people. Your creativity and dedication are what will shape this new era.

Leading Adobe has been the honor of my life. I am committed to setting up the next CEO and the executive team for success, while continuing to focus on our key priorities for the coming years.

The future holds incredible potential. Together, we can lead the way. I’m looking forward to next week’s employee meeting to discuss our recent successes and to answer any questions you may have.
