Don’t Miss This Weekend’s Showdown: Tulane University Athletics Hosts Top-Ranked Opponents in Uptown!

Tulane’s women’s tennis team is gearing up for an exciting weekend at the Goldring Tennis Center. They’ll face two ranked teams: #38 Charlotte on Friday and #56 Rice on Sunday.

The matches promise some fun perks, too. The first 50 fans on Friday will score a free pair of aviator sunglasses and subs. Just a heads-up for parking: due to the upcoming 2026 New Orleans Book Festival, fans attending Friday’s 1 p.m. match should use the University Square lot near Broadway St. The other section will be closed for festival parking. But for Sunday’s match at 11 a.m., parking will be available as usual.

Tulane enters the weekend with a strong recent performance, winning six of its last eight matches and dominating North Texas 4-0 last Saturday. Their current record stands at 7-6, showing real potential as the season progresses.

On the other hand, Charlotte finds itself on a five-match winning streak with a solid 10-3 record. Their doubles team, Sara Suchankova and Ni Xi, is making waves, ranked 24th in the nation. Meanwhile, Rice is looking to rebound after a narrow 4-3 loss to #36 Wichita State last week. They hold a 7-4 record and feature a ranked doubles duo as well, Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte, currently sitting at 74th.

The match against Rice will be broadcast on ESPN+, and fans can track match stats through StatBroadcast for real-time updates.

As the matches approach, there’s plenty of excitement within the tennis community. Engaging with local sports events like these strengthens community bonds and promotes school spirit. Plus, according to recent surveys, sporting events rank high on students’ lists for building connections with their university.

So whether you’re there for the sunglasses, the intense matches, or just to cheer on the Green Wave, this weekend is set to be a memorable one for Tulane tennis.
