Revamped GDC Festival of Gaming Draws 20,000 Enthusiastic Attendees: A New Era for Gamers!

The GDC Festival of Gaming drew over 20,000 attendees in 2026, marking a significant shift for the event. Recently rebranded, the festival updated its pricing and pass structure to make it easier for everyone to join.

Held from March 9 to March 13 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the festival featured more than 700 sessions led by 1,100 speakers. Attendees took part in numerous networking events, and over 300 exhibitors showcased their work.

This year’s event was quite different from last year, which welcomed around 30,000 people, including 6,000 for the GDC Nights evening program. In a recent press release, GDC President Nina Brown expressed excitement about the changes. She noted that attendance included participants from over 85 countries, reflecting the festival’s global reach.

“The energy at the festival, from full sessions to busy floors, showed how vital it is for our industry to connect,” Brown said. She emphasized that the transformation was rooted in community feedback, allowing GDC to adapt and grow.

This commitment to inclusivity and collaboration aligns with industry trends. According to a study by the Entertainment Software Association, the gaming industry has shown a growth rate of over 10% annually, showcasing increasing interest and investment.

Looking ahead, GDC will return to the Moscone Center from March 1 to March 5, 2027. Submissions for next year’s fest will open in early July 2026.

Overall, the festival continues to evolve, reflecting the voices of its community and paving the way for the future of gaming.
