Concordia Texas Baseball Series Recap
In a thrilling series, the Concordia Texas baseball team split a doubleheader, sealing their victory against McMurry University at Gardner-Boggs Field.
In Game 1, the Tornados came out strong, winning 9-1. Landon Hyle got the ball rolling early, driving in Kolten McDaniel. Kalen Clark added another run in the third inning. Even when McMurry managed to score in the sixth, Concordia quickly responded. Jett Warner’s sacrifice fly and a strong seventh inning saw Louis Alonzo hit a two-run double and Warner follow it up with a two-run single, boosting their lead to 7-1. The game ended with Concordia tacking on two more runs in the eighth. Jaxson Frazier pitched an impressive 5.2 innings for the win, and Alonzo played a pivotal role, racking up three hits and three RBIs.
Game 2, however, was a different story. Concordia started off strong but eventually lost 16-4. McDaniel scored off a fielder’s choice in the first inning, but McMurry quickly answered with six runs in the second. Concordia fought back with an RBI double from Warner and a two-run triple from Alonzo in the fourth, narrowing the gap to 6-4. Unfortunately, McMurry continued to dominate, scoring six runs in the sixth and another four in the seventh. Alonzo stood out again with three hits and two RBIs.
Looking ahead, Concordia Texas will face the College of Wooster on March 18 at 1 PM for a nonconference matchup.
