Ayrshire Company Recognized Nationally for Innovative Solutions to Combat the Climate Crisis

Land Energy, located in South Ayrshire, won the Net Zero Innovation Award at the 2026 Confor Forestry and Timber Awards held in Edinburgh. This award highlights their efforts to lower carbon emissions and support the UK timber industry in reaching net zero.

Simon Bullock, the head of new business development at Land Energy, shared his excitement: “It’s fantastic to be acknowledged by the forestry sector for our commitment to a low-carbon future.” He emphasized that their production process almost entirely avoids fossil fuels, showcasing their dedication to real environmental benefits. Bullock also expressed gratitude to Confor, Tilhill, and everyone involved in the event.

The Net Zero Innovation Award, sponsored by Tilhill Forestry, is given to companies making significant strides in reducing emissions. Land Energy stood out among notable finalists, including Alexander Mackinnon from the Project Developer Association and Dr. Vicky West, who contributed to the Woodland Carbon Code.

Founded in 2006, Land Energy is now the largest producer of sustainable wood pellets and briquettes in the UK. They also create eco-friendly products like pizza pellets, cat litter, horse bedding, and Solivita, a new soil conditioner.

According to recent research, the demand for sustainable energy solutions continues to grow. A 2023 report found that 85% of consumers prefer products that contribute to environmental sustainability. This aligns with Land Energy’s mission, making their recent award even more relevant.

As businesses adapt to a more eco-conscious market, Land Energy’s innovative practices could serve as a model. With the UK government setting ambitious net zero targets for 2050, companies leading the charge toward sustainability will likely gain a competitive edge in the coming years.
