COLUMBIA, S.C. — There’s news about a baby formula that’s still available, even though it was recalled last fall. According to the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a harmful bacteria.
This recall is serious. It has been linked to 28 confirmed cases of infant botulism and 20 probable cases. Despite the recall, some leftover products have been spotted on the shelves of discount and outlet stores in various states.
The Department of Agriculture is asking retailers, food banks, and surplus food outlets to check their stock for this formula. If they find it, they need to dispose of it immediately.
