Oregon State’s Season Wrap-Up: Lessons and Highlights
Oregon State’s women’s basketball team faced Wisconsin in a tough game, ending their season with a 62-58 loss in the WBIT First Round. Despite their defeat, the Beavers had a solid 23-win season, showcasing tremendous effort throughout.
This was a noteworthy moment for the squad as they concluded their journey in the West Coast Conference after two years, gearing up to return to the Pac-12 next season.
One standout player was Tiara Bolden, who shone brightly in her final game. She scored 23 points and contributed six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. In a thrilling second half, Bolden scored 10 points swiftly, turning a 31-22 deficit into a 37-36 lead. Her determination showcased her leadership on the court.
However, Wisconsin pulled away again with a 57-47 lead late in the game. Bolden fought back, scoring seven points and narrowing the gap to just one point. Unfortunately, OSU’s offense stalled in the closing minutes, allowing Wisconsin to secure the win.
Kennedie Shuler had a remarkable season as well, finishing with six assists in this game. Over the year, she recorded a total of 184 assists, the second-highest in school history. She surpassed notable players like Mercedes Fox-Griffin and Sydney Wiese, only behind Boky Vidic’s record of 203 assists from 1994-95.
Néné Sow provided solid support with a team-high +12 plus-minus rating while also scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds. Additionally, Jenna Villa scored 11 points, wrapping up her junior year with 523 points, placing her seventh for a junior in Oregon State history.
While the season didn’t end as hoped, the Beavers demonstrated resilience and strong performances that fans can celebrate. As they head into the next chapter back in the Pac-12, there’s plenty of promise for the future.
