You’ve probably heard someone say, “You need more protein in your diet!” They’re right. Protein fuels our bodies. It helps repair tissues, supports bone health, and even promotes blood cell growth. Without enough protein, our bodies can struggle to function at their best.
Interestingly, fast food places like McDonald’s and Wendy’s can offer protein options, even if they aren’t the healthiest overall. One of the better choices on their menus is the chicken wrap. Both chains have variations, but McDonald’s wins for the highest protein content in their wraps.
At Wendy’s, they have four chicken wraps. The Spicy Chicken Mayo Wrap and the Spicy Chicken BBQ Wrap each contain 12 grams of protein. The Spicy Chicken Avocado Wrap offers 10 grams. However, Wendy’s doesn’t provide data on one of their wraps—the Crispy Chicken Curry Mayo Wrap—so we can’t confirm its protein level.
On the other hand, McDonald’s features both a Ranch Snack Wrap and a Spicy Snack Wrap, both boasting 17 grams of protein. This gives McDonald’s the edge in terms of protein content. If you’re craving more protein, you can always ask for double chicken in your wrap.
But it doesn’t stop at these two chains. Many fast-food spots offer chicken wraps with similar protein levels. For instance, Chick-fil-A and KFC also serve wraps that pack a protein punch. KFC’s Twisters have between 28 to 33 grams of protein, depending on the version, while Chick-fil-A’s Cool Wrap is hefty with a whopping 43 grams of protein—but it comes with a hefty calorie count as well—660 calories and 1,420 milligrams of sodium.
So, while McDonald’s wraps have more protein than Wendy’s, Wendy’s offers more variety. If you’re looking for a tasty chicken wrap that gives you protein without too many calories, both chains have you covered.
In today’s health-conscious world, the diet landscape is shifting. According to a recent survey by the International Food Information Council, 72% of consumers are looking for more nutritious options when dining out. Fast food chains are reacting to this trend by incorporating healthier and protein-rich items on their menus. So, next time you’re at a drive-thru, remember that some choices, like chicken wraps, can help you meet your protein needs without throwing your diet off course.
