NORMAN—The No. 14 Oklahoma men’s golf team is gearing up for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational this week. This event, consisting of 54 holes, will take place at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Florida. It’s a two-day tournament where teams will compete intensely.
The Sooners are part of a competitive field featuring 11 teams ranked in the top 25. Last year, Oklahoma finished in fourth place at the Valspar event and was fifth the previous year. Notably, in 2025, Jase Summy posted a remarkable score of 197 (-16), marking one of the best performances in OU history.
Coach Ryan Hybl has chosen the same lineup as last week’s Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. The team will be led by Summy, Ryder Cowan, and Clark Van Gaalen, with Coltrane Mittag and Cam Cheek rounding out the five-player roster.
The competition includes strong teams such as Arizona State, Duke, Texas Tech, and more, making it a thrilling event to watch.
Fans can follow live scoring on Clippd, as updates will be available for each hole as it is played.
Tee times and group pairings for Monday’s action will be announced Sunday afternoon, building up excitement for the event.
This event comes at a time when college golf is gaining more attention. A recent survey indicated that interest in college athletics, especially golf, has surged among young fans. This trend can boost visibility for programs like Oklahoma’s, attracting more support and potentially increasing recruitment opportunities.
