Providence College Welcomes New Men’s Basketball Coach Bryan Hodgson
Providence College is excited to announce Bryan Hodgson as the new head coach for its men’s basketball team. He joins after a successful season at the University of South Florida, where he led the team to a remarkable 25-9 record and was named the American Conference Coach of the Year.

Hodgson’s record as a head coach stands out: in his three seasons, he has achieved a 70-37 win-loss record. With 18 years of coaching experience, including notable stints at the University of Alabama, Hodgson brings a blend of energy and expertise. Before South Florida, Hodgson coached at Arkansas State, turning the team around from a struggling program to conference champions in just two years. This turnaround included their first postseason appearance since 1999. His efforts at Arkansas State garnered national attention, with a ranked offense making waves in the Sun Belt Conference.
Hodgson aims to establish a culture of toughness and discipline at Providence, drawing on his experiences from working under successful coaches and developing talent that reaches the professional level. A western New York native, Hodgson’s journey includes personal experiences that fuel his passion for mentoring. He founded a nonprofit, Coaching Love Inc., to support at-risk youth, particularly those in the foster care system. With a commitment to community and mentorship, Hodgson brings a holistic approach to his coaching.
