East Carolina lacrosse player Jaime Behar has been named the American Conference’s Goalkeeper of the Week. This recognition follows an impressive performance during her Senior Day celebration. Behar, hailing from Mineola, N.Y., made 12 saves in a tight 8-7 win against Temple, allowing only six goals. She almost played the full 60 minutes, but received a green card in the fourth quarter.
Her standout moment came with just 38 seconds left when she made a crucial save that kept ECU in the game. Earlier, she had made two additional saves that set the stage for Kayla Wilkes to score the game-winner.
Teammate Emma Magazu, a graduate student from Newtown, Conn., also had a noteworthy game. She recorded four ground balls and caused two turnovers, reinforcing her reputation as a solid defender. As the reigning American Conference Defensive Player of the Year, her efforts were vital in the final minutes, securing the victory for the Pirates over the previously dominant Owls, who had a record of 8-2.
