Twelve years ago, mutual friends set them up for a trip to Arizona, not realizing they were matchmaking. Lee recounts the moment with a laugh: “One of our friends gave me a buddy pass and said, ‘You’re meeting Joe at the airport.’ I thought Joe was a guy!” Instead, he met Joanna. They both wore jeans, hoodies, and Converse shoes, which kicked off a memorable 12-hour journey filled with connection and laughter. Just two years later, they tied the knot.
Last week, about 60 friends and family gathered to witness their vow renewal. Their son, Calloway, born the day after Opening Day in 2017, stood by them, adding to the joy of the occasion. Joanna described the moment as “magical,” praising the Peoria Sports Complex for making the day perfect.
