A 9-Year-Old’s Inspiring Act of Kindness
Think back to a birthday when you got some cash. Most kids think about toys or games. But 9-year-old Hudson LeBlanc had a different idea.
His birthday dinner led to a surprising question: “Hey mom, are there hungry people in Lindale?” His mom, Melisa LeBlanc, was taken aback.
Instead of keeping the money for himself, Hudson wanted to donate. After looking at his savings, birthday money, and allowance, he decided to give away all of it—about $200. His aunt, Hannah Walker Harris, who works at the East Texas Food Bank, helped him with the donation.
Hannah called him “the best Hunger Hero” she knows. It’s rare to see a child so young thinking of others on their special day.
News of Hudson’s generous act spread, inspiring others to contribute as well. He watched donations roll in, and when he saw the total reach $1,400, he was stunned. “I fainted,” he said, overwhelmed.
This kindness isn’t stopping in Texas. A friend in Fairbanks, Alaska, donated to their local food bank in Hudson’s name.
With over $2,000 collected and hopes of providing 10,000 meals, Hudson wants to encourage others to give back, not just locally but globally.
Hudson is also a Cub Scout, actively involved in service projects for the food bank. His story serves as a reminder that kindness can start small but can inspire a wave of generosity.
