CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A public health alert has been issued for certain beef and pork products that may be unsafe. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) found that these items were sold without proper federal inspection.
The affected meats were produced between April 2024 and March 2026 and are marked with a false USDA inspection label. The FSIS expressed that these uninspected products could contain harmful bacteria or allergens.
Here are the specific items involved:
- 5-lb. box of 8-oz. packages of “BLACKWING ORGANIC MEATS ORGANIC BEEF NEW YORK STRIP STEAK” with “EST. 1996” on the label.
- 10-lb. box of 16-oz. packages of “BLACKWING ORGANIC MEATS ORGANIC GROUND BEEF.”
- 5-lb. box of 8-oz. packages of “BLACKWING ORGANIC MEATS GRASS FED ORGANIC BEEF STEW MEAT,” also marked with “EST. 1996.”
- 5-lb. box of 8-oz. packages of “BLACKWING ORGANIC MEATS ORGANIC BEEF STEAK STRIPS,” marked similarly.

- 12-oz. VACUUM-PACKED package of “BLACKWING MEATS PORK GROUND MADE FROM ORGANIC PORK” without inspection.
- 12-oz. VACUUM-PACKED package of “BLACKWING MEATS Boneless Center Cut Pork Chops” also lacking the required USDA mark.
So far, there have been no reported illnesses linked to these products. However, the FSIS strongly advises anyone who has purchased these items to discard them or return them for a refund.
In the U.S., food safety experts emphasize the importance of inspecting meat to prevent foodborne illnesses. A recent study found that nearly 48 million people experience food poisoning each year, highlighting the need for vigilance in food production and safety standards. Keeping informed about alerts like this can help protect you and your family.
