Grand Canyon University Baseball Shines with Four Home Runs in Stellar Victory Over Logan!

Logan, UT – Grand Canyon University (GCU) showed dominance in their recent game against Utah State, leading from the beginning and securing a 10-1 victory. The Lopes dazzled with four home runs, two of which came from standout player Trinity Martin.

Martin kicked things off with a three-run homer in the first inning, showing her power at the plate. By the end of the day, she’d added a two-run homer and drove in six runs overall. Currently, Martin leads her team with ten home runs and has had an impressive stretch with multiple hits in five out of the last six games.

In the pitching department, Oakley Vickers started strong, allowing just one run and recording four strikeouts in three innings. Freshman Abi Jones then took over, delivering 2 2/3 innings of perfect relief, which earned her a win, bringing her season record to 5-1.

Sydney McCray also contributed significantly. She hit her first-ever Division I home run, a two-run shot that bolstered GCU’s lead. McCray has been on fire, leading the team with 43 hits and 22 stolen bases. She’s the first player on the team to achieve five straight games with multiple hits since Savannah Kirk did so last season.

The final innings saw GCU pile on an additional five runs, supported by yet another homer from Martin, who also brought in Briah Williams as a pinch runner. Alina Satcher joined the fun too, hitting her sixth home run of the season.

With this victory, GCU improved to 8-0 in the Mountain West Conference, and currently holds an impressive record of 35 wins and just 2 losses.

In a recent tweet, sports analyst Maria Thompson noted, “GCU’s blend of power hitting and solid pitching is making them a team to watch this season.” Such insights reflect their growing status in college softball.

The series finale is set for 11 a.m. (AZ) and noon (UT) on Sunday. You can catch the game on the MW Network.
