Duong was battling a rare soft tissue cancer called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, which affected his vision.
On the GoFundMe page, a heartfelt update shared, “With the heaviest hearts, we share that our dear Alex passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by love and dear friends. He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain.” His wife, Christina, and daughter, Everest, were with him, allowing him to say a loving goodbye to his little girl.
Duong had a rich career in television, appearing in shows like “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Mad TV,” and “Dexter.” His film credits included titles such as “Formosa Betrayed” and “Ghetto Physics.” Last August, he even participated in a benefit show to raise awareness about his condition, featuring fellow comedians like Ronny Chieng.
In a 2025 LA Times interview, Duong reflected on the support within the comedy community: “Comedians always have each other’s backs when times are tough. We understand the struggle of this lifestyle. It’s beautiful to witness.”
Despite his battle with cancer, Duong’s spirit shone through in his profession, illustrating the resilience and camaraderie often found in the arts.
