Six members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team have proudly earned eight All-America honors this season from the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA). This recognition highlights their impressive skills and hard work throughout the year.
Freshmen Mackenzie Estep and Ella Murphy, sophomores Elle Mueller and Addison Fatta, junior Keira Wells, and senior Faith Torrez all stood out. Individual honorees are determined by their final national qualifying scores before regionals. First team placements are for the top eight athletes, while second team goes to the next eight.
Addison Fatta stole the show with first-team recognition in both the all-around and vault, finishing second nationally on vault and fourth in the all-around. This illustrates her remarkable versatility and talent.
In her debut season, Mackenzie Estep earned first-team honors on vault and second-team on floor, concluding the regular season ranked No. 4 on vault and No. 11 on floor. This is a fantastic start to her gymnastics career.
Keira Wells also made her mark, landing on the first team for vault, finishing fifth nationally. Elle Mueller received second team honors, ending her season ranked No. 14 on vault.
Faith Torrez has shown consistent excellence, receiving honors for the third year in a row on beam, where she ranked No. 3. Ella Murphy, in her first year, earned her first honor on beam as well, finishing eighth in the nation.
The Sooners now look forward to the NCAA Lexington Regional, traveling to Kentucky on April 2-5. As the top seed, they’ll face off against No. 16 Kentucky, Ohio State, and the winner of the Central Michigan/Rutgers matchup.
This season’s achievements mirror the program’s long-standing dominance in women’s gymnastics. Historical data shows that teams ranked No. 1 often excel in postseason events, highlighting the Sooners’ strong potential to perform well in the upcoming regional competition.
It’s exciting to see how the gymnastics world embraces these athletes, especially on social media, where fan support for the Sooners is evident. Check out their journey and follow their updates on Twitter and Instagram.
