iOS 26.4 was released recently, bringing some helpful features, especially for personal hotspot users. One standout update is the ability to easily monitor data usage for devices connected to your hotspot.
I’ve used my iPhone’s hotspot a lot—especially before switching to cellular iPads. It was always a bit tricky to manage data limits while working outside my home. With iOS 26.4, navigating data usage is much simpler.
In the Settings app, just go to Personal Hotspot, and at the bottom, you’ll find a Data Usage menu. This feature only shows up after you’ve used your hotspot. Here, you can see how much data each device connected to your hotspot has consumed, which is perfect for keeping tabs on your usage.
You can also reset this tracking by resetting your overall cellular usage in Settings > Cellular. This helps if you frequently lend your hotspot to others or have multiple devices connected.
Fun fact: Apple previously stored this data in a different section of settings, which many users—myself included—might have overlooked. It’s a small but valuable addition for those who depend on their iPhones for data access.
Interestingly, according to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, around 20% of smartphone users rely on their personal hotspot frequently for work or leisure. This shows how crucial this feature has become in our daily lives.
If you’re someone who often uses a hotspot, you’ll appreciate how iOS 26.4 makes it easier to manage your data. Whether you’re working on the go or sharing with friends, this update is a welcome improvement.
