Exciting Home Opener: Eastern Illinois Beach Volleyball Faces Lindenwood!

Easter Illinois (EIU) will face off against Lindenwood for the third time this season. They’ve lost both prior matches, each 5-0. Despite a tough start in the OVC, the Panthers rebounded by defeating Tennessee Tech 5-0 in their last match.

Home Opener
This weekend marks the debut of EIU’s new beach volleyball facility at the Linder Sports Complex. It’s a fresh start, located close to the former venue at Sister City Park. The Panthers are excited to host Lindenwood for their only home match this season, hoping to make the new complex a regular home for future games.

Last Time Out
At their first OVC weekend in Chattanooga, EIU finished with a 1-3 record. They lost to Morehead State, UT Martin, and Chattanooga, but secured a win against Tennessee Tech. Notable pairs like Lilli Amettis and Sylvia Hasz, along with Laura Paniagua and Giorgia Cappelletti, pushed their matches to three sets and contributed to the victory.

The Panthers and Lions previously clashed at the start of the season during the MO State Tournament and again last month for their first OVC match. Lindenwood claimed both matches, each ending in a 5-0 sweep.

Scouting Report
Lindenwood arrives with a strong 13-5 record, including 4-1 in the OVC. During OVC Weekend #1, they beat Tennessee Tech, Morehead State, and UT Martin but fell to Chattanooga. Earlier, they went 3-1 at the Beach Bear Bash, winning against Eastern Kentucky, Central Arkansas, and Southwest Baptist, plus 2-2 at the Battle on the Bay in Florida.

With a mix of excitement and determination, the Panthers look forward to turning their season around at their new home court.
