Chicago, IL — On Wednesday night, North Park University’s men’s volleyball team faced off against #17 Illinois Wesleyan University in their last home match of the season. Unfortunately, the Vikings couldn’t keep up, losing the game in straight sets, 14-25, 13-25, 13-25.
The Titans quickly established control, showcasing a strong offense that unsettled the Viking defense. Players like Adekunle Adebayo and Isaac Vroom made early contributions, with Gino Hamoy trying to set the pace amid constant pressure. Despite some efforts, Illinois Wesleyan managed to break away, taking the first set 25-14.
In the second set, North Park found their rhythm, improving their defense at the net. Jonah Johnsamson and Adebayo combined for a crucial block, reminding the home crowd that they were still in the game. Hamoy showed impressive skill, securing three kills even under a tough defense. Still, the Titans remained relentless, with Patrick Dasbach sealing the set at 25-13.
The final set saw North Park fighting hard again, bolstered by solid digs from Nolan Edkin and Zachary, each recording five digs. Vroom delivered a standout performance with a solo block and four kills. Yet, Illinois Wesleyan’s offensive strength proved overwhelming, finishing the match at 25-13.
North Park will now head on the road to face their rival, Augustana College, on Saturday, April 4th, at 3 PM.
