I’m not ready to make any apologies or update my takes just yet. It’s too early in the season for that. Players are still getting into their rhythm. For example, take Sandy Alcantara: he threw a dazzling nine-inning shutout—zero earned runs, only three hits, and seven strikeouts. His impressive ERA? A perfect 0.00. So, maybe I misjudged him during the preseason. Oops—my bad!
In other news, here are some standout performances from yesterday’s fantasy baseball action:
- Otto Lopez went 2-for-4 with three runs and his first homer. He was practically a steal in drafts.
- Liam Hicks had an electric game, going 3-for-4 with two runs, four RBIs, and three homers already this season. Is he the top catcher in Miami?
- Oneil Cruz also shined, batting 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a homer—momentary brilliance that could wane, though.
- Bryan Reynolds was electric too, hitting 2-for-5 with two runs and two more RBIs. He’s definitely one to watch.
On the mound, Tarik Skubal dominated with seven innings, one earned run—and look at that ERA of 0.69!
Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman hit his first homer as the Dodgers struggle early on. Speaking of woes, Nathan Eovaldi had a tough outing, giving up six runs.
Let’s also talk about Shea Langeliers, who hit his fifth homer, making history as one of only two catchers to achieve five-plus homers in the first six games of a season.
With all of this action, it’s clear that although it’s an early season, some players are making a serious impact. The competition is fierce, and surprises are popping up everywhere.
