The NFL has just announced the schedule for the voluntary offseason workout programs for all 32 teams. These sessions help players with training, coaching, and overall conditioning. Here’s what the Giants have planned for 2026:
Voluntary Minicamp: April 21-23
OTA Workouts: May 19-21, May 27-29, June 1-4
Veterans Minicamp: June 8-10
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the offseason program is divided into three phases.
Phase One: The first two weeks focus on meetings, strength training, and rehabilitation. No on-field activities take place here.
Phase Two: In the next three weeks, teams can engage in on-field workouts. This includes individual instruction and drills at a walk-through pace. There’s no contact allowed, emphasizing safe training.
Phase Three: This final phase lasts four weeks, permitting 10 days of organized team practices, known as OTAs. It allows for some drills like 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 but still prohibits live contact.
Veteran players are required to attend a mandatory minicamp, scheduled during Phase Three. New head coaches can also hold an additional voluntary minicamp, provided it’s before the NFL Draft and after a certain number of workouts.
Each team can also run a rookie development program for seven weeks starting May 11 in 2026. This includes a post-Draft rookie minicamp, taking place on the first or second weekend after the draft.
Interestingly, data from the NFL Players Association suggests that these offseason programs have significantly improved player performance and safety measures over the years. In recent years, teams have also been more selective about which workouts to emphasize, focusing on building team chemistry and understanding new tactics.
