New Delhi: Recently, the Indian LPG tanker Green Sanvi safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz. This marks the seventh Indian vessel to navigate this crucial waterway amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Green Sanvi followed a designated route through Iranian waters, ensuring its safe passage.
The tanker is carrying about 44,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which represents roughly half a day’s LPG needs for India. Experts predict that two more Indian LPG tankers, Green Asha and Jag Vikram, will also make their way through the Strait toward India soon.
With Green Sanvi’s transit, there are now 17 Indian vessels active in the Persian Gulf, including various types like crude oil and LNG tankers. All seven of the vessels that have recently crossed the Strait of Hormuz are LPG carriers.
