Boxers Upset by No. 3 Linfield: 22 Runners Left in the Dust – Pacific University Athletics Highlights

The Pacific softball team had a tough day against No. 3 Linfield during their doubleheader. They started strong, scoring first in both games, but ultimately lost 6-3 in the first game and 9-1 in the second.

Despite leaving 22 runners on base over the two games, the Boxers showed promise. In the first game, Libby Hardee made a significant impact. She singled and scored the opening run, contributing to her impressive three hits over the game.

However, Linfield quickly turned the tide, scoring three runs in the second inning and three more in the fifth. Even though Pacific out-hit Linfield 10-7, their chances to score were often wasted, with 12 runners stranded.

In the second game, Kiara Baba kept Linfield scoreless for five innings. Pacific took a brief 1-0 lead when Hardee hit an RBI double. Unfortunately, the Wildcats answered back with a powerful three-run homer in the sixth and piled on six more in the seventh, sealing the game.

Hardee finished with two hits in this match, and Baba had a solid performance on the mound, allowing only three earned runs and striking out seven batters.

For the Boxers, these games highlight the importance of capitalizing on scoring opportunities. As they prepare for the next matchup, which is set for Saturday at 1 p.m., they’ll need to focus on batting efficiency to turn their efforts into wins.
