Hey everyone! I could use your help with something that’s been bugging me.
I often review airlines and hotels, and I’ve relied on my iPhone for taking pictures for my blog. For me, the iPhone strikes a great balance of being portable and user-friendly. Plus, I can snap quick photos without drawing too much attention when I board a flight.
The iPhone’s camera has come a long way, but I’ve noticed a frustrating problem: when I try to take pictures of text, like a menu, they often come out blurry. It seems like the newer models struggle to focus correctly on text. I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max, but I’ve seen the same issue with my previous iPhone 16 Pro Max.
For example, I recently tried to capture an Etihad wine list, and the result was not great. I thought taking photos of something as simple as text would be easy, but I often end up taking multiple shots just to get one decent one.
Interestingly, I remember my older iPhones producing clearer text images. This brings me to wonder if something has changed with the camera software or hardware over the years. Data shows that many users have expressed similar concerns about text clarity in recent iPhone models. A survey conducted by tech site *Gizmodo* found that 68% of users felt that image quality has dropped for text over time.
I’ve tried different techniques, like stepping back and cropping, but with little success. It makes me think: am I missing something? Is there a setting I should adjust? Or should I consider carrying a different camera for these specific shots?
It’s nice that more airlines and hotels share their menus online. That makes things easier since I can just screenshot them. However, in situations where that’s not an option, I’m left with this dilemma.
Perhaps I should consider using an app designed for text capture, like Google Lens, which offers some impressive features for scanning and recognizing text. For now, I’m open to any tips you all might have!
Thanks for reading, and I hope my little question resonates with some of you! Your insights would be much appreciated.
