Harry and Meghan arrived in Melbourne on a Qantas flight, marking their first visit to Australia in almost eight years. Passengers onboard were largely unaware that they were sharing the flight with the former royals, who flew in business class. Many were surprised when they spotted Harry and Meghan leaving the plane, escorted by security.
One passenger even had a chance to chat with them during the flight. They shared brief conversations about their kids and mentioned their busy itinerary. Others nearby expressed how friendly the couple seemed, even joking that they chatted near the bathroom area.
This trip isn’t an official royal tour, as Harry and Meghan are no longer active members of the Royal Family. However, they plan to focus on mental health, community resilience, and support for veterans during their stay. Their schedule includes a visit to the Royal Children’s Hospital—a place with historical significance, opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1963.
The couple will also engage with families of veterans at the Australian National Veterans’ Art Museum. On Wednesday, they will head to the Australian War Memorial and take part in a reception for the Invictus Games. Harry founded the Invictus Games, which celebrate wounded veterans through sports, and he’s passionate about raising awareness for their contributions.
In a nod to their ongoing commitment to mental health, they’ll participate in activities at Swinburne University, including a guided walk to explore significant Aboriginal sites. Meghan will highlight women’s health at a luxury wellness event in Sydney over the weekend, where tickets are priced at $2,699.
Interestingly, their last visit in 2018 involved announcing Meghan’s pregnancy with their first child, Archie. However, their kids won’t be joining them this time.
As public interest continues to grow around their activities, social media buzz reflects both support and criticism. Engagingly, a recent survey showed that 60% of Australians feel positively about Harry and Meghan, seeing them as advocates for vital issues like mental health and community support.
This visit highlights not just a return to Australia but the couple’s evolving role in global discussions about well-being and community advocacy.
