Join Madhya Pradesh in Honoring Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar: Celebrating His 135th Birth Anniversary

On Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav honored Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, by garlanding his statue in Bhopal. This event celebrated Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary.

Yadav spoke about how Ambedkar shaped modern India by drafting a Constitution that protects the rights of all citizens. He highlighted that this work aimed to build an equal society.

Reciting the Preamble of the Constitution, Yadav rallied attendees with chants of “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Amar Rahe” (Long live Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar). He noted that the BJP government has developed five key sites related to Ambedkar’s life, which include his birthplace and final resting place, to keep his legacy alive.

Drawing attention to Ambedkar’s impact on women’s rights, Yadav mentioned efforts for female education and legal protections. He pointed to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which aims to ensure that 33% of seats in Parliament and state assemblies are reserved for women. He calls this a significant stride toward empowering women today.

In a post on social media, Yadav reiterated his commitment to Ambedkar’s vision of social harmony.

Ambedkar, often referred to as Babasaheb, was born into a Dalit family and fought fiercely for equal rights for marginalized communities. He served as India’s first law and justice minister and was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990 for his tremendous contributions.

Recent surveys indicate a growing public awareness and appreciation for Ambedkar’s principles, especially among younger generations. A report from the Indian Social Institute noted that 72% of respondents believe Ambedkar’s ideas are crucial for today’s society.

As we reflect on Ambedkar’s legacy, it’s clear he paved the way for discussions around equality and rights that still resonate today. The fight for social justice continues, and his vision inspires many ongoing movements.
