Panda Fest Preview in San Diego
Panda Fest is making waves in San Diego on April 25 and 26 at Waterfront Park. It’s the largest Asian food festival in the U.S., with over 80 vendors offering 200+ street food dishes. You can look forward to flavors from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and more.
BiuBiu Xu, who started New York’s Dragon Fest, founded Panda Fest. This year, the festival will travel to cities like Phoenix and Philadelphia. Expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with music, food, and cultural displays.
Tickets for entry are $15 on April 25 and $17 on April 26. A VIP experience is available for $35, and while food prices vary from $5 to $25, admission does not include food.
The Melt’s New Location
In San Marcos, The Melt is opening its fourth location in San Diego. The grand opening is on Thursday at 151 S. Las Posas Road. The first 100 guests will snag a free MeltBurger from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Known for its rich cheeseburgers and cheese-focused dishes, The Melt has 18 locations, mostly in California. Their MeltBurger features Angus and Wagyu beef with aged cheddar cheese and costs between $10.79 and $16.99.
New Culinary Leadership at The Lodge at Torrey Pines
The Lodge at Torrey Pines has welcomed Eric Sakai as its executive chef. He brings experience from hotels in Texas and was previously awarded by Food & Wine magazine. Joining him are Owen Beatty and Michael Moritz as chefs de cuisine. Both have strong backgrounds in high-end restaurants.
This new team promises creative dishes that pay homage to the local environment while elevating dining experiences.
San Diego Zoo’s Food, Wine & Brew Fundraiser
On May 2, the San Diego Zoo will host its annual Food, Wine & Brew event. Guests can enjoy bites from over 100 regional vendors. The event runs from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a VIP entry at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $179 and allow attendees to indulge while supporting conservation programs.
Hooley’s Closure and Future Plans
Hooley’s Public House in La Mesa recently closed after 17 years. The space will be demolished as part of the mall’s renovation plans, including the Macy’s store. However, the original Hooley’s location in El Cajon remains open.
