Exciting New Google Apps Now Available for Windows and MacOS: Discover What’s New!

Introducing the Gemini Desktop App for Mac

Google has launched its first standalone desktop app for Mac called Gemini. This app responds to user demands for a native search tool on macOS. According to Josh Woodward from Google, the project took less than 100 days. It boasts over 100 features, all built using Google Antigravity.

Using the app is easy. Just press Option + Space to open the Gemini prompt bar. You can ask questions just like you would on the web version. The app can also access your windows for added context, enhancing its AI capabilities.

Built entirely in Swift, the Gemini app on Mac offers a wide array of features. You can upload files, create notebooks, and access tools like Deep Research and Canvas. It also includes models for generating images, videos, and music. Exciting new features are expected to roll out soon.

However, there’s a catch. The app is not available in the Mac App Store. Instead, you’ll need to download it directly from Google’s website. Fortunately, it’s accessible in all regions with Gemini support.

It’s interesting to note that Google’s move echoes a trend in technology where companies are opting for direct downloads over app stores. In a 2023 survey, 65% of users expressed a preference for downloading apps from official websites due to concerns about store policies and app compliance. This response might lead more companies to reconsider their distribution methods in the future.

Overall, Google’s Gemini app for Mac represents a significant step in offering AI-driven capabilities directly to desktop users. With its user-friendly design and comprehensive features, it’s worth exploring for anyone interested in enhancing their productivity with AI.
