The Columbus Blue Jackets have confirmed that Rick Bowness will remain as head coach through the 2026-27 season, as announced by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell. At 71, Bowness has a rich history in coaching, with a career record of 331 wins, 419 losses, and 48 ties across 840 NHL games. Notably, since 2019, he’s posted a more impressive record of 208 wins, 130 losses, and 39 ties.
“I love being part of this organization and working with our players,” Bowness remarked. He acknowledged the team’s disappointing season but expressed optimism about future efforts.
Before joining the Blue Jackets, Bowness was head coach of the Winnipeg Jets, where he led the team to a solid 98-57-9 record and two Stanley Cup Playoff appearances.
