Weekend Highlights: Experience the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Celebrate April Brews Day in Bellingham, and Discover More Exciting Events!

Spring is finally here in Whatcom County! Tulips are blooming, and the sun is inviting everyone outside. If you’re looking for fun things to do this weekend, you’re in for a treat.

Head over to Skagit County to visit three stunning tulip farms. You can stroll through fields of colorful blooms, snap some pictures, grab snacks, and even buy fresh-cut flowers. The Tulip Town, Tulip Valley Farms, and Roozengaarde are all part of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The tulips are at their peak bloom right now, so it’s the perfect time to visit!

If you’re in Bellingham, don’t miss the Downtown Spring Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Look for hidden baby chicks in local shops. Finding them could earn you a prize! Check-in starts at 11 a.m. at Commercial Street Plaza, where local vendors will also showcase their crafts.

Beer and cider lovers will enjoy April Brews Day at Civic Stadium. Over 40 breweries and cideries will be offering tastings. It’s a great chance to try something new while supporting a local cause. Proceeds from the event go to the Max Higbee Center, which provides recreational programs for people with developmental disabilities.

If you’re a book lover, local author TJ Poortinga will be at Village Books in Fairhaven to discuss his new novel, Electric Orange. The book offers a satirical look at the American political scene through the story of a psychologist facing a breakdown live on TV.

This weekend also features two live shows. On Saturday, check out The Coast to Coast Tour at the Mount Baker Theatre. Colin James and his friends will share heartfelt music about Americana and spirituality.

On Sunday, April 19, the Kitchen Dwellers will perform at Wild Buffalo. This Montana band blends folk and bluegrass with a touch of psychedelic rock for an unforgettable show.

As you plan your weekend, think about the choices out there. Local events create memories and strengthen community ties. Enjoy your spring weekend adventures in Whatcom County!
