OpenAI is experiencing significant changes as two key leaders announce their departures. Kevin Weil, who spearheaded the company’s scientific research initiatives, and Bill Peebles, responsible for the AI video tool Sora, are leaving. This strategic pivot has led OpenAI to shelve various projects, including Sora, which was reportedly incurring substantial costs—around $1 million daily. Additionally, OpenAI’s chief technology officer for enterprise applications, Srinivas Narayanan, is leaving to spend more time with his family, further highlighting the company’s evolving landscape.
